Line, colour, form, people.

As an artist, Pirkko works primarily in two media... acrylic paint and pen and ink. Each have their own character and expression. Each medium creates its own stories.

As a painter, Pirkko captures small moments, understated expressions and reflects them into the broader common human stream. Given this, the work takes the form of strong line and pattern but with softer content that is often in the form of stylized portraiture or iconic imagery.

As an illustrator, the lines and details that populate these patterns of the painted work, gain a stronger presence in the ink drawings. Precise and exact strokes balance with an organic structure creating drawings that are detailed and whimsical.

Pirkko lives in Toronto, Canada, often dreams of being other places - and sometimes gets there.
